Malacca Vacation July 2012

Came back from Malacca 9 hours ago. It was a great fun so I'll like to thank all the organizers of this event and all the people who went for making it such a great memory!

Alright, so let's start with this post.

Went to Sunway at 8 am, stopped for a few second to pick Weng Hong up from the fire-station. We all reached there early so we waited for the people driving to arrive. Roughly we left around 8.30-8.45 am in 2 cars:
1.) Rikesh's Getz - Rikesh (driver), Shane, Kev, Justin and I
2.) Nursabrina's Innova - Weng Hong (driver), Wen Ee, Joseph, Gan, Nursabrina, Sabrina, Julie, Niki.

We got a map from someone's mom (I forgot who it was because I was still feeling like sleeping) and we followed it exactly. Apparently, the map-drawer forgot to mention the few left turnings we were not supposed to take. Thus, Rikesh just flew down the highway with a GPS in one-hand and a phone occasionally in the other.

Flying at unimaginable speeds, we arrived at Alor Gajah Toll really fast. We called Naethen and he told us to wait half an hour for him as he needed to change his car battery. Awhile later, the 2nd car arrived. So instead of waiting for Naethen, we ventured out towards A'Famosa  Resort by GPS. We went in circled round and decided to go eat. So following the nearest food located on the GPS, we set out on a 20 minute drive to find a lot of restaurants and stalls weren't open yet. Bloody hell, I thought Perak was slow in opening up in the morning but 1 p.m is too much >_>

So we found a nice mamak to sit down and eat some tosai. Funny thing was the whole time, Naethen had to call us to find out where the hell were we and we kept switching places till he blur. After chatting and eating, we left to the Resort again. We had to pay a RM500 deposit and I was inclined to pull out my card to do it first but I was afraid so I didn't. Since only 6 of us out of the 3 cars' 16 people were there, we split it to a RM100 each.

After getting the keys, Nursabrina led us on a drive to find the place. She led us all the way back to the entrance and then we found out our place was just about 100 meters away from where we paid the deposit. So after another long drive back, we threw all our luggage into the bungalow.

Expensive but nice place. It has a pool too.

We freshened up a bit inside and switched on all the airconds before going to the Animal World Safari. It wasn't too bad, we got to see some tigers, lions, eagles, cute monkeys, a shitting orang-utan and a bunch of shows (Mixed Animal Show, not really nice; Cowboy Show, not bad, the ending was nice; Bird Show, this was nice, well done). We got into this stupid boat to go to a place called Monkey Island. It was a piece of land in the middle of a lake with only 5-15 tiny cute monkeys (or lemurs like Mort), a peacock and King Julian (might explain the lemur-looking monkeys).

King Julian! I found you!

It took us around 3 minutes top to walk a whole circle on the island before we went back to the dock to wait for the boat. The reason I called it a stupid boat was that if too many people were on one side, the bloody thing capsizes. And by too many, I mean one or two.

We went on the safari truck after the island. Somehow or rather, most of the animals had their asses facing towards us...

Lions were bloody skinny while the tigers looked normal. Lots of deers everywhere (not in the same zone as the predatory animals of course)

After the AWS, we went back to take bathes and get ready for dinner. We were supposed to get to the Cowboy town by 8.45 but somehow or rather, dinner took us till 9+ and we reached the Town at 10+. We missed the fireworks but it wasn't too spectacular anyways. So we ended up taking some pictures there and getting out back to our lodging.

At the lodging, the guys jumped into the pool. Except Eugene >_>. Naturally, all the girls avoided the pool. We laughed and made as much noise as we wanted since the neighbouring houses were empty (wohoo!). From the quite dark pool, we could see lots of stars. Without the air and light pollution of the city, the sky was lit up by many tiny dots like diamonds in the sky.

After spending like half an hour in the pool, I got out and waited to dry out before taking my bath. Most of the guys just took of their trunks and wrapped a towel around their waist before walking into a living room full of people\ to avoid dripping all over. I, on the other hand, was not so comfortable with the idea, thus the standing outside waiting to dry up.

After taking a quick shower (and with a lot of people outside the bathroom looking at their muscles through the mirror at the washbasin located right outside the bathroom, I didn't feel a long bath was wanted), I went to the living room and watched TV with the rest while occasionally playing Chor Dai Di and Cluedo. Someone tried to start up a Truth or Dare game but he failed. We celebrated Naethen's birthday early there. After that we drank the soda Joseph bough till around 2 am before turning in and sleeping.

The next day, 8 of them went for the breakfast buffet. Note: Them. I woke up late so they went since the coupon was only for 8. The rest of us had a 12 bucks breakfast of bread. We decided the paintball place looked crappy and it was expensive, so we ended up not playing. After stoning for a few hours, we set of for lunch. It was probably the last lunch I would be having with most of them, save Justin, Kev, Shane and Gan. The rest of them were flying off in a week or so. T_T

So we ate Pizza Hut (wow, it has been awhile since I last stepped into one) and chatted some more before going to Petronas to top up the Touch and Go cards (but the gas station there didn't supply that service). I said what will probably be my final goodbye to Naethen and Eugene since I wouldn't be seeing them in a long time (probably will go KLIA when they fly off).

Naethen led the way back to Alor Gajah Toll and there we went our separate ways or at least that's what the poet in me says. After the toll, he took the left turn while we took the ride. The rest of the way back was not as much joking as when we were going to Melaka since we were all tired out.

It was a great trip and farewell.

Quick Update

So. Another crossroad approaches... my safety zone is somewhere behind me on this path.

I find that while I had an exponential emotional growth in the last 2 years of high school, it was due to circumstances at that point. Eventually I realised that was just another phase in life (okay, fine, it lasted till mid last year).

I realised that the ADTP system really helps in building up people. Some people don't notice because they're not involved but others do feel the difference between the normal Malaysian school education system and the American system. Dang, the Yanks have got something here. Also, I'm not sure if being in the STACT (for a few months) and Sun-U Council (as an executive member) had a hand in it but I think getting myself involved  in organizing activities had help.

So the quick update:

1.) Had a great time playing against Yong Jie and gang in basketball. Sure we lost but heck, we had loads of fun against them.

2.) It's the end of the sem and a large chunk of my current friends are leaving. Can't expect to be with them the whole time, something I learnt from high school.

3.) The freaking exams are here in 2 weeks.

4.) No grapher for Differential Equation in said exams. Challenge accepted.

5.) A rival has been discovered. But the code stands. Friends first.

6.) Been playing more bball. Need to get back to my form five fitness level, which was the highest IMO. Needa pick up TKD again probably. And play more bball...
